Suddenly the Bible doesn’t look so frackin bad. Under Moses man and woman suffered one and the same penalty (or clemency)–this is why a word like “patriarchy” shouldn’t be embraced as a self-evident description of the Christian world view. ht: http://sn

“A word like ‘patriarchy’ shouldn’t be embraced as a self-evident description of the Christian world view.”
Should a word like ‘theism’ be embraced as a self-evident description of the Christian world view?
Yeah, Biblical patriarchy looks a lot different from evil, pagan patriarchy. And Biblical theism looks a lot different from evil, pagan theism. But do you have a problem with the arche of our Pater? Or with its analogical manifestations among men on this earth? If not, then why trash a good word by associating it only with the abominations of sick, macho cultures like those of modern Islamic Arabs or the ancient Romans?
