To quote Rev. Jeff Meyers:
Jonathan Barlow has written an excellent analysis of the debate in the PCA General Assembly in 1988: “The Theology of the 1986 PCA Majority Report on Paedocommunion: A Review and Critique.” He argues that the real theological innovations were propounded by those that argued against paedocommunion. For those who think that the “majority report” of the 1988 General Assembly ended the debate Jonathan’s paper is must reading.
This is exactly right. Jon shows that the price of maintaining a mistaken practice carried over from the Roman Catholic Church at the time of the Reformation is serious tampering with the actual content of Reformed Theology. This is a must-read.
