Why Reformed Protestants need Confessions to protect themselves from the Bible and then official seminary professors to protect themselves from the Confessions

The Relationship that Leads to Life: Why God’s Law is Good News.

Ezekiel wants to give an argument for the benefits of God’s moral law but he lacks the categories by which to do it. His argument has only two categories good/bad and relationships. The title and subtitle of his essay should alarm any red-blooded Protestant: “Why Will You Die O House of Israel: Why God’s Law is Good News.” The answer is: It isn’t, not for sinners.

“If she’s talking about a relationship with God, then, apart from the righteousness of Jesus Christ imputed by grace alone, through faith alone, a relationship between God and sinners is a very dangerous one for sinners! ”

Whyohwhyohwhy do some people always seem to need to make the negative assumption — “if you’re talking about XYZ apart from the gospel, then it just leads to death!” Why would anyone assume that any Christian writer or speaker or babbling housewife EVER talks about anything “apart from the gospel” unless explicitly stated? Why this constant need to always make arguments by pretending the gospel doesn’t exist, and then bringing it in at the end with a big trumpet fanfare? That’s great evangelism, maybe — but it’s lousy Christian theologizing and/or exhortation.
