Well, maybe go see iron man instead. I’ve heard Iron Man it lots of fun. You’ve read the book, anyway. If you bave to choose one or the other. But I’d see both if I could afford the time/money. I also was happy to take a 7 and 9yo to Caspian (tho movies these days crank the intensity more), and I wouldn’t take them to Iron man

Almost all of the film blogger community and the mainstream publications have rated it very highly. My guess is if you’re a book purist, you may like it less; but most film critics have said it’s far superior to the first movie (which would be good for me, since I thought the first movie was spiritless – no strong directorial guidance). I haven’t had a chance to see it yet. I did see Iron Man, though, and it was great fun.

I thought it was very well done as a film but I can’t say that I remember a great deal from the book. Besides, if you want to see more films done that have a Christian theme… throw some bones at it or you’ll be complaining a whole lot more that enriching stories aren’t being told by Hollywood!!! The production quality was much better artistically and dramatically than the first one.

Saw it last night with my “crew.” We enjoyed it. I like CS Lewis, but I don’t consider myself a huge Lewis guy and Lewis’ Caspian was never all that remarkable for me. So the changes they made didn’t really bother me all that much.

Haven’t seen Iron Man. It’s gotten too expensive to see these films in the theater anymore, so we severely limit ourselves to what we watch in the big screen.

On the price of movies: I bought a big box of popcorn for the family to share. It cost something like $5.00. Half-joking with the person behind the counter, I said, “For $5.00, it better be really good popcorn!”

Not catching the humor, and the counterperson gave me the line that I assume she’d been taught to say when customers complained about the price of popcorn: “Well, we’ve had to raise the prices, because the price of popcorn has been going up.”

I had a good chuckle at the notion that the theatre increased the price of its popcorn from $4.50 to $5.00 per box as a reflection of increasing corn prices. I’m sure that the seven cents of unpopped popcorn it took to fill the box with popped popcorn was putting a real dent in the theatre’s popcorn profit margin.

    On Prince Caspian:

We’ll undoubtedly go to see “Prince Caspian,” but if it’s anything like the book, at best it’s a pleasant diversion while getting to “Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” the best story in the series, IMHO.

    So, what did you decide?

My husband and I saw Iron Man three weeks ago. It was worth every penny, Every scene is paced exactly right, the acting is pitch perfect, the soundtrack suits, it’s just really good.

We’re not bothering with Caspian. I don’t think I can stand more Peter-as-arrogant-confused-teen. Nope. My four year old said “I want to see Prince Caspian movie because I want to be like Peter.”

That clinched it. He’s NOT seeing that thing.
