Your link to Barlow just takes us to a generic page. Did you mean to link particular post?

While I’m open to very different opinions of what the economy may do, I must confess being very skeptical of any economic analysis predicting doom and gloom that ends with the pitch, “read my new book ‘Crash Proof: How to Profit from the Coming Economic Collapse.'” I mean, really, Mark.

Finally, note this part of his argument: “I have heard about Canadians checking into U.S. hotels with empty suitcases, crossing the border to indulge in weekend shopping sprees.”

While I suspect this is supposed to get our patriotic outrage juiced up (“How dare those Canadians buy our stuff!”), this is actually a good thing: Canadians are providing employment to Americans rather than to Canadians. And so are Europeans and other people because the dollar is cheap relative to other currencies.

You can click on the date in Jon’s “tidbits” and a linkable url will come up. It will also allow you to post comments.

Jon only put it on his “tidbits” column without any comment, so I didn’t have any real post to link.

I gave the guy a lot of benefit of the doubt because of a friend’s testimony about his past record on the economy.

I only took the Canadian story as a pointer to how bad the US is doing. You’re quite right that they are probably a sign of how the economy can recover. In any case, I totally missed the cue to be outraged at the Canadians.
