What? The covenant of works is still a hypothetical way to re-enter the Garden? How can it “still” be something it never was? A covenant promising to move sinless Adam from his station in the Garden to eternal glory cannot be a means for moving sinners back to that original station.
This came up in our covenant theology class. Donald Macleod argues the same thing.
I find it to be both the logical end of bi-covenantalism and the most offensive thing imaginable.
It has no role for the resurrection (obviously) and promotes a hypothetical Pelagianism. Jeepers.
Right. Adam and Eve were graciously gifted with residency IN the Garden. They didn’t need to work to enter it. Amazing silliness passes for biblical theology these days.
