1. Yes, WordPress strips out the YouTube embed codes.
2. b2evolution is definitely not better. It’s a security nightmare, and the aesthetics are worse. Both security and aesthetics are important… (Disclaimer: I contributed to the b2 project waay back in the day)
3. Most people use a plug-in:
the aesthetics are controllable on both Word Press and b2e. I have seen some horrible looking WordPress blogs as well as some terrible b2e blogs. I guess it depends on how much knowledge one has of php and css to make it look exactly how you want it to.
They are both functional and the latest versions of b2e are quite secure — no issue here and I have been using it for 4 years (or so).
I’ve always used the embed code provided by YouTube, iFilm, or wherever, and WordPress has never stripped out the html. I had the Anarchy Media Player plugin installed for a while, which gives you a button to embed media from various video sites, but I never really used it, because the html works for me. I wonder why it doesn’t strip it out for me? I don’t remember changing any settings on that…
Mark, if you post the code last (once you are done with any writing for the blog entry) and you hit publish while you are in the code editing box instead of the test editor, your videos from youtube (or anywhere else) should all show up.
The only problem is that if you want to edit that post again, you have to re-paste the video code again after you are done editing the text of the post. It’s just a matter of finishing any post or update to a post with a video by pasting the video code in last. Does that make some sense?
Hope that helps. I usually don’t have to edit posts again that have videos in it so this solution works best for me. Let me know if that doesn’t work.
With youtube it’s easy. They supply the code on the side of every video.
No, wordpress strips it out.
u have to turn off HTML validation but since I use b2evolution (which is better btw!) I don’t know how to do it on WordPress…
Sorry. Ask at the WordPress Forum. They are pretty fast in getting you an answer.
I have a couple of players built into my site. You just click the player button on your edit toolbar and paste the http of the video you want.
Whoa, anarchy!

This will give you the button Steven speaks of.

Well my experience with the plugin has been totally frustrating thus far….
