Blogging on the sinking site

I thought this was interesting:

Buffy writers were routinely asked if the show was animated, or if it was a kid’s show, or even just told “never heard of it.” And that was pretty much the MOST well-known show I’ve worked for. When I mentioned Battlestar Galactica recently, I actually got a, “Oh, is that a magazine?” So… I guess… chin up, it doesn’t get much better.

I’ve lately noticed myself comparing varying parts of the Power Rangers saga to Buffy/Angel….

I have somehow messed up my title command so that, if you go into the archives, my title no longer serves as a link back to the main page.

I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask for a new template and completely start over. Ugh.

I don’t know about the archives, but when I come here through my Firefox live bookmarks, the title does serve as a link back to the main page.

Of course that means that the Google live bookmarks also still load properly, if that’s any help to you. I don’t know anything about this sort of thing, though.

Thanks. I hadn’t tested individual entires.

I got frustrated with firefox because it took so long for the bookmarks to load. This week I finally switched everything over to google reader….

The “new” Google Reader is awesome. I think it’s pretty responsive, considering what’s going on ‘under the hood.’

Some of the geeks are whining that it “doesn’t load quickly enough.”

But it’s fast enough for me. And it’s def. better than firing up FeedDemon.

Perhaps your template woes are giving you a perfect opportunity to switch to wordpress. 😉

Sometimes I forget how attuned to fandom I tend to be and that most of the world isn’t…I don’t watch BSG and never have, but almost everyone I know watches it. (I have a BSG-on-DVD catchup plan in place for next summer.) And I can’t imagine not having at least heard of Buffy.

The problem with wordpress is that I’ve not yet developed a feel for how one starts a site from scratch. I’ve used the freebies crutch for so long….

But, it’s going to happen soon. It has to!

Well, I saw you’d set up a WordPress.com account, and if you play around with that awhile, it’s really exactly the same as having your own installation, except with less customization. Plus, you don’t really have to start from scratch as far as designing and building a template…there are hundreds of already-built themes out there. The only slightly tricky part is installing it in the first place, which seems harder than it is, depending on your webhost. If you don’t have a webhost, I recommend Dreamhost, for many reasons, but especially in this case because you can one-click install WordPress directly from Dreamhost, without even downloading the WordPress software. Of course I found out about this AFTER I figured out how to do it the hard way… I’m sorry I keep beating the WordPress dead horse, but it’s just so awesome, I can’t help it!
