Keyboarding onto the web without using a browser

NOTE: I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT THIS POST

Here I described how Mac users can use their Spotlight search function to go directly to any favorite website without having to first open their Safari browser and point and click.

But, at the time, I thought this only worked with Safari. It kept me from switching to Firefox because I thought Firefox was unable to open the shortcuts you could drag from your browser and place in a folder.

I was wrong. The rule isn’t Safari-only; the rule is that only your primary browser may open those links (well, I haven’t tested every one available, but it certainly works now that I have made firefox the primary browser).

So you’re not stuck with Safari to take advantage of this “hack.”

And remember, Firefox provides other skins so you can get something that looks as nice and OSX aesthetically compatible as Safari.
