Interesting discussion on the possibility of a sudden “tsunami” that wipes out traditional book publishing the way the iPod changed the face of the music industry.
In the comments there was also some talk about a tablet system replacing laptops. Personally, I don’t think so. For some part of the market, a portable keyboard will always be a great advantage.
They’re going to have to make a device that will keep working after repeated drops from nightstands, kitchen tables, and dests.
It might be an OK device. But then again, I got excited over my (now-dead) Palm IIIx. My grandfather’s Harvard Classics are still cookin’ right along on my bookshelf.
Count me out… I love books. The smell, the touch, the durability.
Once I got a cd with the complete works of John Calvin on it… Saved a bunch of money…
