If you need to engage in special pleading to “defend” the system from Scripture, then the system is false or you need to learn about it at least as much as the people you hope to convince.

    David, “special pleading” refers to a use of Scripture to support a point that does not use the exegetical rules one normally observes to determine the meaning of the text.

    I think I understand. I have obviously not had a proper education. Prompted by your comment I had a look over at Wikipedia which gave me a bit more info including a few examples. I should have thought of that before quizing you.

    It’s a cliche, but you learn something new every day.
