By the way, in addition to Lig Duncan’s post on Sinclair Ferguson’s stuff on NPP there have been a lot of good things on the metablog. I especially appreciate Justin Taylor, who recommends Augustine, Calvin, Bavinck, and John Frame’s The Doctrine of the Knowledge of God. Thanks go to him, also, for the heads up on the illustrated ESV children’s Bible that is coming out.
Mark, what about Edwards and Augustine and Owen? Have you read these also?
Edwards: no
Augustine: yes; great stuff, though I think there are other works I like better than confessions. His stuff on faith hope and love? I can’t remember. I went through an Augustine phase in seminary and grabbed several things from the library.
Owen: I’ve only read his book on the “death of death,” and some of his antidote to Arminianism. I would like to read the bookon sin even though his other stuff (with apologies to J. I. Packer) did not impress me at all.
