Halo, Wolfenstein, then my web browsers…

So, in addition to Halo not working, my Wolfenstein ET game was totally mute last night. Then, this morning Calvin tried to play a web arcade game on Safari. It was silent. I tried my Pandora account on both Safari and Firefox. Silence.

Apple has really succeeded in bringing out my inner shallow person. I idly wondered if it was possible to break an iMac in half with one’s forehead.

But the Safari issue was my deliverance (this sentence utilizes the mac definition of “deliverance” rather than the soteric meaning). I googled and found that some applications (I have no idea how this happened) can set you “audio output” at a level that other programs can’t produce. I went into my midi utility and changed the output setting to what I was told to do.

Safari gave me sound; Wolfenstein gave me sound, and Halo started without automatically shutting down.

After a happy dance in the living room (Charis tried to join it, but she hasn’t got my skills yet), I got a haircut, showered, and move on to other things.
