Ferguson on NPP

I thought this was an overall good summary of Sinclair Ferguson’s lecture.

But something reminded me of a question I’ve been meaning to ask:

He argues that … it is an exegetical mistake to suggest that Paul was without pre-conversion guilt….

I differed with Ferguson on a number of things in the lecture, but this one was a surprise to me. It seemed to me that, in his lecture, Ferguson mentioned the question, “Did Paul feel overwhelmingly burdened by guilt as a Pharisee trying to do enough good to win God’s appreciation?” But when he gave his answer he addressed a completely different question: “Was Paul guiltless of ever sinning?” In other words, my memory now and my impression at the time was that Ferguson rather abruptly shifted from the question of subjective guilt in his conscience to that of objective guilt in God’s sight.

I don’t have a lot of time to go back and listen again. Did anyone else notice this. Am I mistaken?
