Oops, acting stoopid

Just got inspired to change my email password.

I’m sure Yelp means well. They just want to help me find my friends, doggone it! But the very nature of the request is incredibly offensive; they have effectively asked for the keys to my house in order to riffle through my address book.

Perhaps a future change in online email will be to put the address book in an exportable “place” that doesn’t compromise email security.  I can export the address book on my hard drive without that sort of vulnerability. Of course, if you are not very careful, there are other negative consequences possible if you allow a social network site to have your address book. hat tip: wyclif
