b) In the meantime, some places that don’t meet the criteria will be better for you than others, but only temporarily. Maybe a confessional Lutheran congregation, or a confessional Presbyterian congregation would work for a time (and although they have important differences from our confessional continental Reformed churches, some of these may bear the three marks). I have a feeling I’ll be posting some material by Nevin in the near future.

Whoa. Mark, you and I may not see eye to eye very often, but this is troubling in the extreme.

The URC has some fine sturdy churches, scholars, and pastors, but this smacks of the typical Dutch provincialism of so many with whom I was raised.

NB: they don’t come out and say “what” is wrong with Presbyterianism. It’s just not Dutch, that’s all.

The old RCA saw on the old CRC was that they were the “Post Toasties” denomination. The Post Toasties slogan was “Just a little bit better.”

And this, sadly, is evidence that this spirit is not dead. I am sure men like Bob Godfrey, MIke Horton etc. would eschew this position and lament that it is held.

Incidentally, that is why I am such a fan of T4G, BOT and other pan-Reformed movements. Our commonality is in the gospel, and secondary things while not unimportant, are not as important as that.

I’m blanking on the BOT synonym, but you are absolutely right about T4G being an excellent ministry for this reason among others. It exhibits a Christian attitude.

Sorry. Banner of Truth. It seems to me they have always been at the forefront of the Pan-Reformed movement.

I also like Bob Godfrey’s idea of a super-Reformed synod under which the PCA, OPC, URC, ARP, etc. could unite and make common cause.
