A passing thought about bobsled sovereignty

Revisiting this, after teaching on Genesis 18, it occurs to me that a certain kind of predestinarian piety can be practically identical to atheism.

In neither case is there any reason to pray–beyond allegations of the personal benefits comparable to “meditation.”

In the Bible, the fact that God is sovereign means you ought to turn to him and beg him to do things that only a sovereign God can do.

In our common parlance, the fact that God is sovereign means that nothing can ever change.
