WWWLJD

My brother is asking some questions about WWJD. I’ll leave such questions to him, and instead turn the question on its head (or inside out, or something). Whatever one thinks of WWJD, I suggest it is particularly unhelpful to read the Bible in such a way that it condemns Jesus and his activity while on earth as recorded in the gospels.

Oddly enough, this means we have to leave a bit of room (perhaps only a small space over in the corner) for a single man, perhaps even a pastor or elder, to spend time in the the company of women of ill repute. And he might just be drinking a beer. And picking up the tab.

And now I’ll open the floor: anyone want to try to unpack the acronym WWWLJD? Take a shot at it in the comments.

  1. I can’t quite make out the acronym you’re proposing, I think because of the way the font appears. Did you write WWWLJD? Or maybe WWWI_JD? Please clarify.

  2. Hmmm… Now that I submitted the comment, the first guess appears just like yours, so now I know what you wrote (it looks different in Times New Roman), but I’m not close to unpacking it!

  3. I like Peter’s guess, probably because it was along the lines of what I was trying to formulate but couldn’t.

BTW, it’s not really an acronym. Although I guess you could try to sound out “Wawoowalajid”.

  4. Russ: yes, yes, I know… it’s initialism, not a true acronym… but common usage is blurring the distinction more and more, fwiw. heh. lol at my own joke.

Okay, regarding those guesses, I can only imagine the hits hornes.org is going to start getting from the search engines now. It’s bad enough that half our traffic is driven by Tricia’s entry from long ago called Panty Boy.

Here’s what I had in mind:
What Would We Let Jesus Do? In other words, how might the Gospels have played out if a modern evangelical was at the steering wheel?

  5. Ah, the old “committee bus” analogy.

And yeah, I know it’s not an acronym, and normally I’m the first person to point out such things; I guess I’m getting lenient in my old age.

Nice job on the hits, Trish.
